No, You can take the classroom before you receive your permit as long as you are at least 15 years and 9 months old.
As soon as you successfully obtain your permit you can start your behind the wheel training and observing. For students who are under the age of 18, the Parent Class portion of the Driver Education Program must have been completed prior to the start of any in-car training.
If your son or daughter is under the age of 18 and is an unlicensed driver-in-training, you'll be required to attend a 2-hour training course. Dave's Driving School, Inc. makes valuable use of your time, teaching you critical steps and safety topics that will help you and your driver-in-training on the road to being licensed safely! If you have taken this class for another child within the last five years then you are exempt. A recent change in the Driver Education Program requires the Parent Class to be completed prior to any in-car instruction. Our website will have the up-to date information for the Parent Class schedule. If you have any questions regarding this class please do not hesitate to call us.
You can make up the classes that you have missed at any of our county locations. All you need to know is what class number you missed, then refer to our Class Schedules tab at the top of this page and choose what location you want to make up the class. Click on the calendar icon to see the class listings. Remember, you need to attend the class number that you have missed. Also don't forget to sign in so you get credit for the class.
No, we do not have the RMV Driver's Manual but you can either go to the RMV and pay $5 for the manual or you can download it by clicking the following link: Massachusetts Driver's Manual
